Life without Mom, Anchored In Christ

May 28, 2015 a day etched in my mind until I leave this earth. Every year I come to this day to reflect on the blessing of having a Mom for 30 years and 1 month and 16 days. She quietly passed away while we slept in the house.

There is no day that goes by where I do not think about her.

The shock has definitely wore off as life has gone on as it does, and I do not suppose my grief has overtaken me, but do I have moments of “Man she would like this…” or “She would have loved this or that about her grandchildren”, or just tears flowing on a hard day. They come and go.

I recently found notes I had prepared when I spoke and lead her wake to my family and friends a few days later in the afternoon. Friends and family of mine had made the trip out to Mastic, from upstate NY, traveled from out of state and locally. And in that short period of time I shared what is commonly known as the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also continued to implore (after explaining the gospel) to invite those listening to answer or respond to questions that come up in these times. Today, I extend this to you reading this post. Here is my quote:

“In times of despair and in times such as the loss of a loved one, we must consider our

own very lives before God. We can ask Him why, we can ask the questions, on why such

things happen, and never really know the answer to them. Ok we CAN find out those answers, by searching His Word, the Scriptures. Today what will you do? Right now?

What is more important than your own soul? Where do we spend the most time? Sure its

with the people we love, and rightly so. But before God alone...that is where the

understanding of who God really is comes to life in the heart of a yielded person.

Wanting to know more about the One who made us. In the Old Testament, God invites

those who turned away from Him, and what became of the Babylonian captivity of the

Israelites? (See verses below) Through Isaiah, God makes His position clear to us that He is Sovereign over all the earth, and to Him belongs salvation. There is only one God, and in the New

Testament we find God in Jesus Christ.”

21 Declare what is to be, present it-let them take counsel together. Who foretold this

long ago, who declared it from the distant past? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no

god apart from Me, a Righteous God and a Savior; there is none but Me.

22 "Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

Isaiah 45:21-22

Turn to Him.
